AVON LAKE, Ohio — The Avon Lake Police Department is partnering with Project ChildSafe to provide free gun locks and firearm safety education materials to the public in an effort to promote responsible gun ownership and reduce the risk of accidents.

Anyone – resident or not – can pick up free gun locks at the Avon Lake Police Department’s dispatch window. The program is part of a nationwide initiative that emphasizes the importance of securely storing firearms when not in use to prevent accidents, theft, misuse and suicide.

Project ChildSafe has partnered with thousands of law enforcement agencies nationwide to promote responsible gun ownership and safe storage of firearms in the home.
