RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Wednesday night’s Powerball jackpot has soared to $1.4 billion.
Virginia Lottery officials expect $3.7 million worth of tickets to be sold in the commonwealth on Wednesday alone.
“At peak times today, such as early evening, we estimate we will be selling at a rate of more than 3,700 Powerball tickets per minute across Virginia," Virginia Lottery officials said Wednesday morning.
In Monday’s drawing, a ticket purchased at a Wawa in Manassas matched the first five numbers in the drawing to win $1 million. Two tickets purchased in the Virginia Lottery mobile app won $150,000.
The jackpot was last won on May 31 in California. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
