Hurricane could be brewing in the Atlantic with early path toward east coast

As we enter the most active stretch of hurricane season , a tropical wave in the Atlantic Ocean has caught the attention of the National Hurricane Center .

As of 8 a.m. on September 2, meteorologists reported that a disturbance south of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms, but environmental conditions are favorable for further development in the coming days.

The National Hurricane Center has given the system a 70% chance of developing into a tropical depression (or potentially more) within the next seven days.
