GREENSBORO, N.C. — Grimsley quarterback Faizon Brandon, recognized as the top overall prospect in the Class of 2026 by 247Sports, will not play in the Whirlies' Week 3 game against East Forsyth, according to Grimsley head coach Darryl Brown.
This will be the second straight game Brandon, a Tennessee commit, has missed since suffering an injury to the thumb on his throwing hand. In Week 1, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback completed 11-of-15 passes for 155 yards and one touchdown while also running for a touchdown in a 28-27 overtime win over West Charlotte.
With Brandon sidelined last week, freshman Brody Lowe started under center, completing 18-of-29 passes for 344 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a win over West Forsyth.
