FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Indiana State Police (ISP) is investigating after an inmate’s suicide attempt at the Allen County Jail last week left them in critical condition.

An ISP spokesperson sent a press release on Wednesday, saying the suicide attempt happened at the jail on Friday, Aug. 29.

The department says they were called to investigate the incident on Friday, finding an inmate was found unresponsive in their cell.

They say Allen County Jail staff immediately provided medical attention until paramedics arrived and took the inmate to an area hospital.

At this time, ISP says the inmate is in “critical but stable condition”.
