CITYWIDE — INDEPENDENT MAYORAL CANDIDATE Jim Walden announced on Tuesday that he will be terminating his run for office effective Wednesday. For months, Walden has been urging other “free market” candidates, including Mayor Eric Adams and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, to consolidate behind one top contender in an effort to defeat democratic socialist and Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, described by Walden as a “Trojan Horse” exhibiting “extreme bigotry toward police, an authentic commitment to communism, and antisemitic obsessions.”

Walden, a former prosecutor with a reputation as a straight-shooter who received numerous endorsements from law enforcement officials, said it was time to “walk the walk” for the good of the city.
