LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - More than 100 new Nebraska laws go into effect Wednesday, covering topics from mixed martial arts to mental health.

Several are expected to directly impact schools:

LB84 : Adopts the School Psychologist Interstate Licensure Compact, easing the interstate practice of school psychology and improving access to school psychological services.

LB89 ( “Stand With Women Act” ): Requires K-12 and postsecondary students to participate on sports teams that align with their sex as defined by law. Co-ed sports remain unrestricted, and girls may play on male-designated teams if no female-only option exists.

LB390 : Requires all school boards to adopt policies granting parents, guardians, or educational decisionmakers certain access to school library information.
