KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A police officer, son, brother and friend: Hunter Simoncic was honored Wednesday morning during a funeral service for the fallen officer.

During the service, a video display at Children's Mercy Park highlighted moments and memories from his life, from his early years to some of his last.

"He had a gift of making people feel seen [with] a simple check in, a quick hello, a smile," friend Steven Jennings said at the service Wednesday.

Other friends and colleagues said Officer Simoncic made them feel like they mattered and shared how he made the world safer and better.

The service concluded with flags presented to Officer Simoncic's family, a flyover and a final call from dispatch.
