What started out as a traffic stop for a Troy woman reportedly seen using a cell phone while driving could result in a drug possession charge after police allegedly found suspected fentanyl in her vehicle.

Troy police said officers pulled over the 35-year-old woman late last month, then discovered she had a suspended license and outstanding warrants for her arrest. After she consented to a vehicle search, officers found 2.19 grams of what they suspected to be fentanyl in the rear pocket of the driver’s seat of her 2008 Honda Accord, police said.

The woman was arrested, transported to the Troy Police Department for processing, and then released to an area hospital for medical care. Charges are pending, police said.
