ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A 32-year-old man was arrested on Thursday following a high-speed chase through Reidsville that involved two small children in his vehicle, the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office said.

Allanti Marquan Broadnax allegedly fled from a Rockingham County deputy on NC Highway 14, reaching speeds over 130 mph. The vehicle, a black BMW, matched the description of one involved in a prior hit-and-run. Broadnax abandoned the car at an apartment complex and attempted to flee on foot, leaving the children behind, who were unharmed and placed in the care of their mother, deputies said.

Broadnax was charged with felony fleeing/eluding, possession with intent to sell and distribute controlled substances, and two counts of misdemeanor child abuse, among other offenses.
