CHINESE CAMP, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The TCU September Lightning Complex fire has burned over 13,000 acres in Calaveras, Stanislaus and Tuolumne counties, going straight through the historic gold rush town of Chinese Camp.

The town, which was first settled in the 1850s, has been reduced to rubble following the wildfire. Locations such as the town's 170-year-old historic post office have been left with a collapsed roof and significant fire damage to the outside.

Other buildings in the historic town have been destroyed by the fire. The Red Cross has set up an evacuation center at a nearby senior center.
