FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The Garnet Fire is growing, but so are containment efforts.
On Sept. 4, there were no new evacuation orders; the fire grew to over 32,000 acres and is 14% contained.
“We're happy to say that the fire is currently staying within our containment lines and we are aware of the areas that are at risk,” Public Information Officer for the U.S. Forest Service Sam Wu said.
Eleven days after the Garnet Fire ignited, fire crews are making progress keeping it contained.
“The fire is growing. However, we've also been creating more lines and more containment. And so staying at 12% doesn't mean that there's no work that's being done,” Wu said.
The rough terrain presents almost as many problems as the fire itself.
