KERMAN, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A family in Kerman has brought the sweetness of authentic Mexican paletas to the community for over a decade, and now, across two generations.

Martin Enriquez says his appreciation and love for ice cream started when he was just a boy.

"At the age of 13, when I was in school, I wanted to make some extra money," Martin said. "So then I went and met up with the owner of a paleteria. He gave jobs to kids."

Martin earned money selling paletas as he went to school, and eventually, he also earned a scholarship to study in Mexico City. Martin earned his degree, Mexico's equivalent to a Bachelor's in Animal Science, and came to the Central Valley to work with cattle.

After some time, Martin says his mind would drift to a young girl he knew as a boy in Mexico.
