MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - A man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend is in custody Thursday after U.S. deputy marshals raided a home in North Memphis.

The U.S. Marshals Service says Jeffery White, 39, was wanted for first-degree murder in the shooting death of his ex, Lasheka Johnson.

Investigators say Johnson was shot several times at a convenience store in North Memphis on March 26.

She was released from Regional One Hospital but later readmitted before succumbing to her injuries on July 13.

The next day, detectives secured an arrest warrant charging White with murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The USMS then adopted the case as a fugitive investigation.
