CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - “It affects everybody,” said Joe Richardson, council member for the non-profit organization, Southeast Missouri Suicide Prevention , Inc.
The non-profit focuses on bringing more awareness to suicide prevention in the Heartland. Richardson said he finds it important for everyone to be educated about the topic.
“I believe there’s the mindset that people think that somebody who’s contemplating suicide or they’re not contemplation stage that they think they’re weak-minded or whatever, and with that, you know, we try to squash that stigma,” he explained.
“So it’s naturally a scary and anxious thing to have a child,” said Erin Randol, Clinical Therapist for Sunrise Therapy Services .
