LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A man was arrested Wednesday after being accused of sexual assaulting a child years ago.

On Feb. 18, a 22-year-old woman reported to the Lincoln Police Department that she had been sexually abused by 71-year-old John Gotchall at his residence in Lincoln between June 2007 to June 2013, or from the age of 5 to 11.

On Aug. 3, the woman confronted Gotchall during a recorded phone call in which he didn’t deny the allegations but rather claimed he didn’t remember, according to court documents.

On Aug. 8, a family member confronted Gotchall again on a recorded phone call, and this time he admitted to parts of the sexual abuse and said he should have acted like the adult when the abuse occurred, police said.
