SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Big Brothers Big Sisters is a mentoring intervention for children and teens aiming to improve social, emotional and behavioral outcomes.
Bigs are paired with littles for one-on-one support to build their relationship that can last a lifetime. Volunteers meet with their little a couple times a month for visits to spend time with each other doing fun activities after school. Board member Paulina Najbar says taking a little time out of your week to support a little goes a long way.
"It's not about being perfect. It's about showing up. Because a lot of times, these kids don't have somebody that's consistent in their life. So somebody that shows up, somebody that they can talk to, and somebody that can just be in their corner, makes a big difference," says Najbar.
