REPUBLIC, Mo. — The Greene County Commission is hosting its 10th annual agriculture tour in cooperation with the Missouri University Extension Office. The tour provides an opportunity for the commissioners and local leaders to learn more about the importance of agriculture in the county.

One of the stops along the tour this year is a unique aspect of the agriculture in Greene County that is actually in a suburban area in Republic.

The Backyard Pantry started as a way for Bill and Cassi Mounteer to be more self-sufficient and grow some of their own food.

"We started three years ago, and it was our way of sharing methods of being self-sufficient and how to give back to the community and teach people how to be more self-sufficient on their own," Bill Mounteer said. "So this is our backyard
