MADISON, Wis. — Andrew Showers, the Madison-area priest charged with child sex crimes at the end of August, is now being accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Chicago more than a year before his recent arrest.

“I'm determined to reclaim my voice and my power,” Patricia Moriarty said.

Moriarty claims that in January 2024 Showers sexually assaulted her at a bar in Chicago when she was 23 years old.

“I was in a public establishment, and he groped me under my clothes and was very aggressive with his sexual language towards me,” Moriarty told News 3 Now Thursday.

Moriarty publicly came forward alongside advocacy groups Nate’s Mission and Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests, or SNAP, in front of the Wisconsin State Capitol Thursday.
