PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A scheduled, full-scale, training exercise is taking place this week at the Peoria Air National Guard Base, the 182nd Airlift Wing said on Facebook.
The combat readiness inspection goes from Sept. 3-7 and is part of a routine process that assesses a wing’s ability to deploy ready forces, according to a spokesperson.
The spokesperson also said the exercise is essential to mission readiness and is a routine activity for a military operation.
All training will remain inside the perimeter of the base, but the wing said residents around the base may notice an increase in military presence and aircraft activity.
Other Illinois National Guard units are doing their previously scheduled drill weekend at the same time.
