An Air Quality Advisory was issued Thursday morning for Kootenai, Shoshone, Benewah, and Bonner counties.

The advisory comes amid "degraded air quality due to wildfire smoke," the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality said in a release.

Air quality is expected to worsen into Friday and Saturday. DEQ advised that air quality is projected to be "unhealthy for sensitive groups," while the general public is unlikely to be at risk.

Air quality for Thursday is listed in the "moderate" category, meaning that while air quality is acceptable, those particularly sensitive to air pollution may be at risk for health effects.

Open burning is also prohibited under the advisory.
