LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- A Detroit man will serve 15 months to 20 years in prison after admitting he was involved in a criminal enterprise that fueled a large auto theft ring, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced Friday.

Davonta Jones, 31, pleaded guilty to conducting a criminal enterprise tied to hundreds of vehicle thefts across southeast Michigan in 2024, the attorney general's office said. The statewide investigation began in May 2024.

Investigators said Jones and others targeted new vehicle storage lots at manufacturing facilities, as well as parking lots and homes. The stolen vehicles were sold below market value on the black market to buyers looking for unregistered vehicles.
