INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — Tuesday, July 22, was supposed to be like any other day at the Independence Corners Shopping Center off Route 291 – with salon services underway and sales being had from a nearby parking lot pancake stand – until it was abruptly interrupted.
A salon staff member was recording the day on her phone, just prior to a crash.
"It's devastating for a small business to have something like that happen," Azure Salon and Spa Owner Melyssa Beier said Thursday. "It's devastating for our salon to have that happen."
The pancake business, recently founded by moms on a new business adventure, had set up shop in the parking lot. The crash caused a lot of damage, but some items in the salon have since been replaced thanks to social media.
