Waukee Northwest girls tennis player Addison Latta and Southeast Polk football player Brayden Lewis were voted the Des Moines Register's metro-area female and male Athlete of the Week winners for the week of Aug. 24-30.

Latta won female Athlete of the Week with 47% of the vote.

She went 3-0 from the No. 1 singles position for the Waukee Northwest girls tennis team during the week.

Latta defeated Waukee's Miku Mizushima in straight sets (6-0, 6-0) on Aug. 28 at Waukee. On Aug. 29 at the Northwest Quadrangular meet, Latta scored an 8-2 win over North Scott's Madelyn Jepsen and an 8-0 victory over Pleasant Valley's Kaj Kabongo.

Lewis also won male Athlete of the Week by receiving 47% of the vote. He won a close race with Des Moines Christian football player Tate Olsen. Looking for a free
