FARGO — Police are asking the public to avoid the 700 block of Second Street North near downtown Fargo as officers engage in a standoff.
Described as an "ongoing incident" in a post on the Fargo Police Department's Facebook page, the reason for the standoff was not immediately clear.
Just before 1 p.m., officers in the alley behind 737 Second St. N. were shouting through a megaphone, asking someone inside the house to surrender.
"You're under arrest," an officer said. "Come out with your hands up."
Police began firing flash-bangs into the house shortly before 1:30 p.m.
Fargo police vehicles closed off access to the block, where officers in tactical gear gathered near a tree across the street from the house.
