FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Fulton County officer was honored for his "heroic actions" that saved the life of another officer during a shootout with a suspect in April.
This incident occurred when Police Corporal Zahir Muid observed a person jaywalking on Fulton Industrial Boulevard on April 18. As Cpl. Muid approached the individual, South Fulton Police Lt. Charles Cook was driving in the area, and pulled over to assist, according to the department.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the officers determined that the suspect, later identified as Rashan Cofield, had an active warrant.
