After speculation that he might be considering joining the Trump administration, Mayor Eric Adams announced on Friday that he plans to remain in the mayoral race.

“I want to be clear: Andrew Cuomo is a snake and a liar. I am in this race, and I’m the only one who can beat [Zohran] Mamdani,” he said during a press conference at Gracie Mansion.

The announcement comes after a New York Times report that Trump aides are considering offering Adams the ambassadorship to Saudi Arabia in return for him dropping his reelection campaign.

Adams said New Yorkers are the ones who will decide who the next mayor will be and “will respect the outcome from the voters.”
