CALERA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A church in Calera is getting a positive update after it was heavily damaged by an EF-1 tornado in March .
Calera Baptist Church has announced that after nearly six months of waiting , worshipers can return to their sanctuary this Sunday, Sept. 7.
On Friday, WBRC was invited inside and saw crews finishing up some last-minute touch ups.
“I believe God has prepared us for times like this and so this has actually been a time of growth,” said Pastor Jason Jarvis.
The tornado ripped the church’s roof off, flooded the sanctuary, and heavily damaged some nearby homes and businesses .
“We were relieved to find out that no one in our area was hurt by the storm,” Jarvis added.
