They were often the bane of our lives during our school years. What with the mountain of homework they prescribed, or the occasional ticking off, the teacher-pupil relationship could be a fraught one.

Despite that, and no matter what your personal experiences consisted of, you never forget your school teachers. The Gazette's archive has uncovered a number of teachers snapped across Middlesbrough over the years.
