A drug driver says she has “no idea how cocaine got in her system” after being pulled over by police. Gemma Abigail had benzoylecgonine (BZE) - the cocaine breakdown product - and delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol - found in cannabis - in her system when she got behind the wheel in Billingham .
The mum-of-two almost caused a crash with a police car which led to “drug paraphernalia” being found in her black Vauxhall Vectra on May 27. The 40-year-old appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty to two charges of driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.
Joanne Hesse, prosecuting, outlined that it was around 3.20pm when officers were travelling on Coal Lane in Wolviston . The court heard how officers were on
