For 6-year-old Jaxon Hart, learning in the classroom often feels overwhelming. But at a three-acre horse ranch in Chatsworth, it’s a completely different story.

“He experiences none of that shame when he’s with the horses,” said Elyse Hart, Jaxon’s mother. “He’s so open to trying something new.”

Jaxon has autism, which affects the way he works through challenges at school. After taking horse riding lessons for a year at nonprofit Ride On in Chatsworth , Hart has noticed significant improvements in Jaxon’s confidence.

“It gives him a sense of responsibility,” Hart said. “He’s able to self-regulate and process differently.”
