MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It's been just over a week since five members of the Memphis Area Transit Authority board turned in their resignations, leaving a leadership vacuum in the city's public transit system.
There is no CEO at MATA and, outside of a committee meeting next week, there is no news of what will happen next for the transit line.
Sammie Hunter from the Memphis Bus Riders Union says the company needs leadership now more than ever.
“Right now we need somebody in place to be the CEO, and we need 5 members on the board which we lost, so we need these people to be in place so we can get this transition going to get a better service in the city of Memphis," Hunter said.
