A small wildfire discovered in Strathcona Provincial Park on Friday afternoon, as well as a second, which broke out on Saturday (Sept. 6) afternoon next to Highway 19, north of Campbell River, are both "being held."

The location of the Sept. 5 wildfire is close to Buttle Lake, near the popular campgrounds, west of Campbell River.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, there is no threat to park infrastructure. One initial attack team and two helicopters responded to the wildfire. By 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, the wildfire was "being held." The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The wildfire next to Highway 19 is south of Roberts Lake, about 20 minutes north of Campbell River. Crews will be working along the highway.
