CARTERVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health confirmed the presence of the West Nile virus in 42 human cases across 66 counties this year in Illinois.
Pulaski County recently reported a confirmed case of the virus on September 5.
In Southern Illinois, the virus has been detected in several counties, including Pope, Massac, Gallatin, and Saline counties.
In 2024, there were 69 human cases of West Nile virus, with the virus found in 72 counties.
