CHESHIRE, Conn. (WFSB) - A controversial development proposal in Cheshire could take a major step forward on Tuesday night.

The Town Council prepared to vote on whether to sell 58 acres of land for a project that could bring warehouses, housing and commercial space to the area.

The land, located off Route 10 near Interstate 691, is currently owned by the state.

A Southington-based developer, 3 Squared LLC, is seeking to purchase the property and turn it into a multi-use complex.

Plans include a cold storage warehouse, restaurant space, and housing designed for future warehouse employees.

While the proposal includes keeping a large buffer of trees between the development and nearby neighborhoods, many residents say that isn’t enough.
