LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Police in Lafayette are investigating after a woman was struck and killed Monday morning.

Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello said her office was notified around 7:15 a.m. Sept. 8 of a pedestrian struck by a car near South Street and Creasy Lane on the east side of Lafayette.

The pedestrian, believed to be a woman in her 40s, was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Costello said her office was "working to confirm legal positive identification" of the woman, and an autopsy indicated a preliminary cause of death of multiple blunt force injuries and a preliminary manner of death of accident.

The Lafayette Police Department and Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office are continuing to investigate the incident.
