Derbyshire police officers were faced with an unusual job as they responded to calls of a disturbance in a neighbourhood. Buxton's Safer Neighbourhood Team attended calls from residents on the morning of Saturday, September 6, and found themselves face to face with a herd of 60 cows.
A spokesperson for the police said that although the cows had no intention of moving on, they identified the farmer responsible after inquiring at nearby farms and making phone calls. With help of the farmer, the cattle were eventually returned to their home, with the spokesperson saying: "The cows are now safely back in their field, and the farmer will be addressing the damage caused to the walls by their unexpected wanderings."
