Australian National University governance experts are calling for chancellor elections and more transparency in financial and council decisions as a way for the national university to improve trust with staff.
The ANU Governance Project, an independent group of academics, spoke to 600 people connected with the university as a way to co-design changes to university decision processes.
"We think that the ANU community best knows how existing decisions have impacted them, and what principles and frameworks might be necessary to improve future governance outcomes," the Governance Project said.
The project started after the federal government created an expert council on university governance in January, highlighting the need for change at universities across the country.
