GRANTS PASS Ore. (KPTV) - A 5.1 magnitude earthquake was reported off the Oregon coast, deep in the Pacific Ocean, on Tuesday afternoon, according to an automated alert by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) .

So far, there have been no reports of people on land feeling the effects and no tsunami alert has been issued.

Another 5.8 magnitude quake was reported Monday, about 100 miles off southern Oregon coastline in the same general area at 9:08 p.m.

Earthquakes are a relatively common occurrence off the coasts of Oregon, Washington, and California.

Tuesday’s earthquake was about 170 miles west of Grants Pass, according to the USGS.
