A Calgary hockey arena was safely evacuated Monday night after an ammonia leak was detected
Staff and patrons at Jack Setters arena were required to evacuate Monday evening following an ammonia leak in the rink’s refrigeration system.
No injuries were reported, which the Calgary Fire Department attributes to the “ fast-acting arena staff.”

The fire department responded to reports of the leak shortly after 7 p.m., and hazardous materials (HAZMAT) technicians were able to isolate the leak and begin ventilating the building.
No nearby homes or business were affected, though the fire department closed down the 2000 block of 69 Avenue S.E. to ensure public safety.
