Human remains found over the Labour Day long weekend on the outskirts of St. Catharines have since been identified as those of a young Black man who police say was the victim of a homicide.
Niagara Regional Police were called to the area off Read Road in Niagara-on-the-Lake near the Lake Ontario shoreline on Sunday, Aug. 31, after a human skull was discovered.
On Sept. 3, full skeletal remains were recovered from the area.
On Tuesday, police said their investigation has determined the death is a homicide.
The deceased is described as having been about 18-22 years of age, between 5-foot-10 and 6-foot-3, and with a muscular build.
