AUGUSTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First/WRDW) - A convicted murderer has been on the loose for five days after walking away from his work detail, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies issued an alert Tuesday to be on the lookout for Stacy Huggins. Huggins was convicted of a 1990 murder in Fulton County, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections.

He was supposed to return to the Augusta Transitional Center, but never did.
WRDW, Atlanta News First’s sister station in Augusta , asked the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office why it took several days to issue an alert after Huggins walked away.
