Avelo Airlines has announced today that it has signed for 100 Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. It will make it the United States' first operator of the type, and will complement the low-cost airline's existing fleet of Boeing 737NG aircraft. The carrier says the Embraer's will allow it to "modernize" its fleet and further improve cost efficiency and network reach.

The airline also highlighted the importance of the aircraft's "short-field performance," which will provide further benefits to the carrier's overall operation.
