Scarborough police are urging residents to secure their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight after a recent spike in vehicle break-ins across Innaloo, Doubleview and Osborne Park.
Police say extra patrols are being conducted in affected areas to deter and disrupt offenders, and have asked residents to remain vigilant and take steps to protect their property.
Senior Sergeant Haydn Farrow, officer-in-charge at Scarborough police station, said community vigilance was key to preventing crime and residents should lock their cars, remove valuables such as wallets, passports, money, handbags, electronic devices or tools from inside vehicles and report any suspicious behaviour.
