BEDFORD, Pa. (WTAJ) — Bedford County Commissioners approved the purchase of the building where the county's Children and Youth Services (CYS) offices are currently housed.
The department moved into the building owned by Hometown Bank in July of 2024 and has been renting for around $7,000 a month since.
The approval came at Wednesday's meeting for the $1,056,000 purchase, but commissioners said that because the building is used for CYS, the state will reimburse up to 80% of the cost, meaning the cost to the county will be around $200,000.
Commissioners said purchasing the building will allow them to maintain control over it.
