HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ)--Luigi Mangione is unlikely to appear in person for his pre-trial motion hearing in Blair County later this year, according to county prosecutors.

Blair County District Attorney Pete Weeks stated that federal prosecutors will likely deny Mangione's in-person appearance due to safety concerns, reversing a previous decision by a judge.

"We did receive an indication today that the writ would be denied so that is what we expect will happen," Blair County District Attorney Pete Weeks said.

Mangione's attorney, Tom Dickey, expressed disappointment, stating, "I'm trying to do everything that I possibly can to overcome those obstacles and get him here."

Weeks emphasized that safety is the primary concern, given the national attention the case has received.
