GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - State lawmakers are hoping to expand a program that helps high school students get a head start on their college career.

The Rising Phoenix program was granted $1 million in the state budget.

It lets students take college courses during their junior and senior years to earn up to two years’ worth of college credit.

According to UW-Green Bay’s chancellor, 34% of students in that program enroll at UW-Green Bay.

It’s a program local lawmakers want to see across the whole UW system.
