PALMER LAKE, Colo. (KKTV) -A special election in Palmer Lake is leaving residents hopeful their voices will play a bigger role in the future of the town, while also raising questions about what comes next.
The vote came after months of debate over a proposed Buc-ee’s travel center. Many residents argued the project was too large for the small town, while others said growth was needed and Palmer Lake should benefit.
“I think it’s the way it should be. The residents should make the determination on the annexation. It’s been very contentious, but I hope when the dust settles, people can come back together,” said Raymond Jacobs, who lives two miles from Palmer Lake.
