TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - The Utah assassination of conservative influencer and ally of President Trump Charlie Kirk sent shockwaves south through Arizona.

The chair of the Pima County Republican Party knew Kirk, and a former Democratic congressman who survived a public shooting has been calling for peaceful public discourse.

Whether Republican or Democrat, one thing both sides had in common was to a desire to de-escalate the situation while still honoring Charlie Kirk’s memory.

“He was tall, he was funny, he was smart, he had a real passion for this nation,” Pima County Republican Party Chair Kathleen Winn said in her description of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.
