TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - People protested at Armory Park to advocate for a local group continuing to provide mutual aid to people experiencing homelessness.
Every week for the past four years or so, Community Care Tucson says they have provided aid at the park—including food, water, hygiene products, and cooling towels to hundreds of unhoused individuals in the area—but that aid could stop soon, with the City of Tucson now asking them to acquire permits to operate.
Liz Casey, an organizer for Community Care Tucson, told 13 News, “Why [is it] that now [it] requires a permit, when the police have been driving past us every time we’re here, and have said nothing before. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to us.”
